How we handle your information

1. Information you give us

When you join the email list (for example, to get a free Playbook Card or the Mini Mindfulness Playbook), we collect:

• your first name and email address
• whether you're a parent, a nanny or both, if the form asks
• your kids' age ranges, if you choose to share them, as a range like "toddler" or "tween," never names or birthdays
• which page or ad you signed up from, so we know what's working

When you buy a playbook, you check out on Stripe's secure page. Stripe collects your payment details. We receive your name, email address, what you bought and the amount, and never your full card number.

When you email us or reply to one of our emails, we get your email address and whatever you choose to write. If you share a story about how a card went, we'll only share it publicly with your permission, and with your first name only.

2. Information collected automatically

• Site analytics. We use Plausible Analytics to count visits. It tells us which pages were viewed, which site or ad link brought someone here, and the country, device type and browser, all as totals. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't store IP addresses and doesn't track you across other websites.
• Email activity. Our email provider, Kit, records whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we can tell which ideas are useful.
• Hosting. Our host, Netlify, processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure.
• Fonts. Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.

We advertise on Pinterest. Links in our ads carry a tag that tells us which ad you clicked. We don't install Pinterest's or Meta's tracking code on our site.

3. Cookies

thenannyplaybook.com doesn't set cookies. Stripe's checkout page, which lives on Stripe's own website, uses cookies to process payments and prevent fraud. You can read about those in Stripe's cookie policy.

4. How we use it

• to send the free resources you asked for and our weekly emails
• to deliver what you buy, send receipts and handle refunds
• to answer your questions
• to send ideas that fit your kids' ages
• to understand, in totals, which pages and emails are helpful
• to keep records we need for taxes and accounting, and to prevent fraud or abuse

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own advertising. We use a few trusted companies to run the site, and they only use your information to provide their service to us:

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or with a new owner if The Nanny Playbook is ever sold, in which case this policy would still apply to your information.

6. Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe anytime with the link at the bottom of every email.
• See, fix or delete your information, or get a copy of it, by emailing info@thenannyplaybook.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
• Skip the optional questions. Your kids' ages and your role are always optional.

Depending on where you live, including California, other U.S. states, the European Union and the United Kingdom, you may have extra rights, such as limiting or objecting to how we use your information or complaining to your local data protection authority. Email us and we'll help. We'll never treat you differently for asking.

If you're in the EU or UK, here's why we're allowed to use your information: you gave us permission (the email list), we need it to deliver what you bought (purchases), or it's in our legitimate interest to run and protect the site (analytics, security and records).

7. Children's privacy

Our site and emails are written for grownups. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The kids' ages question asks for an age range only, so we can send age appropriate ideas. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

8. How long we keep it

• Email list: for as long as you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe, Kit keeps a record of it so you don't get emailed again by mistake.
• Purchases: for as long as we need them for taxes and accounting, usually up to seven years.
• Emails you send us: for as long as they're useful for helping you.

Ask us to delete your information and we will, unless the law says we need to keep something.

9. Keeping it safe

The site runs on encrypted connections (HTTPS), payments go through Stripe, and we only use established providers. No system is perfectly secure, so if something ever went wrong, we'd tell affected people as the law requires.

10. Where it's stored

The Nanny Playbook is based in the United States, and our providers store information in the U.S. and sometimes other countries. By using the site, you understand your information may be processed outside the country where you live.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information in a meaningful way, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect.
